Better Luck Next Year

6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Nadal Wins.

Rafa simply wore down Roger in a repeat of last year's outcome. The last two sets weren't nearly as competetive as the first two. Federer made a slew of unforced errors, particularly when returning Nadal's spinning serves.

This is Nadal's third consecutive French Open win; amazingly, he has never lost a match at the French.

Federer will have to wait another year for the elusive Grand Slam, and it is likely that he will have to go through Nadal to get there. Until then, Federer's stats will continue to have one, glaring blip.

Other Thoughts:

The NBC tennis broadcast team is the best on TV for any major sporting event. They provide unique insight and talk just the right amount.

I would love to see an American man face Federer or Nadal on clay. It'd be like seeing the Mets face Kings Highway Elementary School in baseball.

I really wanted Federer to win this time. I thought he would. He seemed due for a victory. If he ever does win a French Open, I hope he has to beat Nadal to get there.

The best for any major sporting event? You're forgetting somebody - Gus Johnson.
